District Rezoning
District Rezoning
Posted on 08/18/2021
On Tuesday, August 17, 2021 members of the Flagler County School Board heard an update on the rezoning process, which is expected to take place for the 2022-23 school year. In this round of rezoning, all public schools in Flagler County will be impacted.
As part of the rezoning process, a number of public participation options have been established. Flagler Schools recognizes the importance of listening to all stakeholders throughout this process.
First, you will find a page dedicated to the rezoning process on the district’s website
here
. Please familiarize yourself with this section. It will be updated every step of the process and is a great first step in learning how rezoning will affect your family. We have maps of current school zones side-by-side with the proposed changes. There is also a tool that allows you to enter your home address to get your exact proposed school zone.
Second, we have a dedicated Rezoning section on the district’s
Let’s Talk!
program, which allows you to leave comments or questions. These questions will be compiled and forwarded to the Rezoning Committee.
Finally, the district is holding two public rezoning listening forums. The first is Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Buddy Taylor Middle School. The session begins at 6:30. On Thursday, August 26, 2021, Indian Trails Middle School will host the forum. It too begins at 6:30. These sessions will cover ALL school rezoning proposals, not just the middle schools.
Flagler Schools representatives will give the public an overview of the process, which is the same presentation given to the School Board on August 17th. There will be an opportunity for the general public to speak about the proposal.
This will not be a “question and answer” session. Rather, it is designed to be an information-gathering session. Comments and questions will be collected and used by the Rezoning Committee moving forward.
Additionally, we will make both listening sessions available via livestream. This will allow us to open up these listening sessions to as many people as possible. While you can view the meeting, if you want to register a comment or question, please use the
Let’s Talk!
app, as described above.
Flagler Schools looks forward to working with all our stakeholders as we move through this rezoning process.
